Florence Elizabeth Roper, a beloved seamstress and nurse assistant, peacefully departed this world on November 2, 2025, leaving behind a tapestry of love and cherished memories. Born on January 26, 1943, in St. Ann, Jamaica West Indies, Florence lived a life rich in kindness and compassion, dedicating herself to both her family and her profession.
Florence was more than just a seamstress; she stitched the fabric of her community together with her unwavering dedication. Her warm heart and nurturing spirit also shone through in her role as a nurse assistant, where she touched countless lives with her gentle care. Each garment she crafted and each patient she aided were met with the same devotion and passion that defined her essence.
She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, brothers and sister who will forever carry forward her legacy of love. They remember her not only for her skills, but for the warmth of her embrace and the wisdom she imparted. Florence’s nurturing presence was a refuge for her family, ever ready with an encouraging word.
Florence’s life, like the vibrant colors of the fabrics she worked with, was a beautiful blend of joy, perseverance, and hope. Her laughter will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones, her stories echoing through family gatherings for years to come.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Mount Airy Church of God in Christ, located at 6401 Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia, PA, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Following this, a funeral service will be held at the same location, beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment following the service will be held at Chelten Hills Cemetery 1701 E. Washington Lane Philadelphia, PA 19138.
